Is the Platinum package with upgraded leather seats a big favorite option or not for the owners or shoppers? I think the reason why it's dropped is because fewer people are ordering with platinum now, more people just want the cheapest, sales have declined, or GM is trying to beat the Lexus RX350 on predicted reliability by Consumer Reports with fewer options now.

So, I've decided to go ahead and ordered a 2024 XT5 Sport with platinum package and night vision in Opulent Blue Metallic exterior color. Good or bad idea? Any suggestions? MSRP is $70,500. Ouch... There's the red color Brembo brakes of course, and many Audi SQ5s I've seen match the colors with the funky blue exterior color.

In southern California where I live, where European luxury brands dominate, bright or funky blue is the big trend right now. Even though Cadillac's Opulent Blue is only 30% of the matching European cool blue color.

You can still order a 2024? The 2025 production date starts in just a few weeks.

How much is an SQ5 in southern California? Up here, an SQ5 and an XT5 Sport w/platinum are roughly the same price. TBH, between the two, I'd be leaning toward the Audi - and I'm a dyed in the wool Cadillac guy. My wife has a 2018 Q5 and we reluctantly chose it over the XT5 at the time. The sole advantage (in my books) of the Cadillac was being able to use 87 octane and insurance costs here are/were also lower on the Cadillac.

Yes, my 2024 order was already placed by the dealer on May 15th, immediately after the 2025 order info guide came out in the same day. The dealer was able to submit a 2024 order with no problem at all. The next part is allocation and wait list, which may not be guaranteed. Ordering vehicles at the very last second quickly with no formal planning, or without any warning by the manufacturer is the worst thing to do. I might have ordered the wrong exterior color (Opulent Blue Metallic). :-(

Audi SQ5 pricing is a little higher than Cadillac XT5 Sport, actually. They're going for over $70,000 MSRP only with no discount, and ordering one is required, since none of the southern California Audi dealers have any in-stock.

I have been studying the 2025 Order Guide in comparison to the 2024 Shopping Configurator and the omission of the Platinum Package for 2025 appears to me to be somewhat misleading.

The majority of the content of the 2024 Platinum Package continues to be available either as included in other packages or available to be ordered ala carte. Before I can make a conclusive decision about the 2025, I would like to see a 2025 Configurator.

The one omission for 2025 comes down to the Semi-aniline leather for the dash and seats. That may be an acceptable sacrifice in my opinion for the continued front and rear park assist which is being phased out in many other GM vehicles. I have not researched the availability of that feature on competitive vehicles, primarily because I love the V6 (LGX) mated with the 9-speed and mode selectable AWD of the XT5.

For those reasons, I am continuing to lean toward a 2025 XT5 and intend to visit a dealer next week to see if they can uncover more detail. I am ready to place an order if they can definitively offer ordering detail to back my research observations.

The complete 2025 standard/optional print book guide can be found here:

Print Book (gmfleetorderguide.com)

I don't see each platinum package item that you can get it optionally. Maple sugar interior color (upgraded seats) is no longer listed. Steering wheel is wrapped only (does not mention leather). Also, no more night vision (not that important), but I got it in my 2024 order as well.

Anyway, I'm still very interested in the 2025 and the lack of a Plat pac isn't very important in the scheme of things. Curious as to the new pricing though.
Yes, I would say the platinum package take-rate is only less than 20%. GM also has to price compete with Lexus RX too. The current XT5 is now only good for as affordable lease with the base trim. That's what my local Cadillac dealer is doing, stocking at least 20 base XT5s on the lot.

I like the 8" infotainment screen on my 2018 XT5. It is bright with large readable print. it is good for someone like me who doesn't need glasses to drive but does need reading glasses for close up print. It also contains all the information I need and isn't distracting or obtrusive like some of those large screens that sit up above the dash.

I have the nightvision and really find it useful, especially when driving in the dark outside the city in animal-crash risk areas. It can see way farther than your headlights.

The HUD will give you a warning if the nightvision sees an animal or pedestrian that could be a risk for collision. Yes, would be better if it was more augmented reality style (full image projected onto windshield) but it's pretty good as is. But considering an XT5 is half the price of a similar Escalade that does have the augment reality, I'm happy.

For the platinum semi-aniline, it really does up the interior feel with real leather on doors & dash, steering, an microfiber suede-finish headliner.

Now it is reported:
"The deletion of the package means that the content contained within the Platinum Package will no longer be available for the 2025 Cadillac XT5. However, the Real-time damping suspension chassis and Performance suspension remain standard on the 2025 XT5 Sport, and are not available as upgrades for the 2025 XT5 Premium Luxury."
