Greetings!

Fairly new owner of an XT5 and looking forward to following/contributing to the forum. Recently purchased one used at a Ford dealer actually, I am in the Northeast and noted before purchasing that it was a Canadian vehicle but did not see any issues with that and all the warranties were still applicable, etc. In any case, after giving the Ford dealer the hand with the hard sell on maintenance plans (oil, service, etc.) and all, I was able to get out of there with a what I felt was a good deal. With the bumper to bumper good till July 2025 I want to be proactive in getting anything that needs to get updated/fixed completed. I will be reading the threads but if anything noteworthy from other experienced XT5 owners that might be of concern please let me know. One pleasant surprise is that I found out, after bringing it to the Cadillac dealer, was that the vehicle had a 4-Year premium maintenance plan from the previous owner that they were able to transfer. It includes up to 8 Oil changes, Tire Rotations, air and cabin filters as needed. I normally still do my own oil changes but I guess not on this vehicle for a bit more anyway.

With that said here are some of the things I have had addressed or are being addressed to also help any other owners. I do have an All Data subscription which has helped with reviewing the TSB's but you can also find them without one, it just makes the searching and sorting a bit easier for me.

1- Had a new exhaust put on (PIT5863) as I could hear the slight exhaust buzz.
2- Had the radio software updated to V167 (#24-NA-060)
3- Start/Stop did not always work, actually don't care for it but had it addressed (Replaced battery sensor module)
4- Had the eBrake software update performed (#21-NA-252)
5- More recently, I was having the intermittent "Steering assist is reduced" displaying on the DIC and thought it could potentially be the thermostat or perhaps battery issues that have been documented here. Turns out TSB (#20-NA-215) is the culprit for my vehicle (early production run) and the fix is to replace the rack, a new steering gear is currently on order.

One question I had was in regards to towing with the XT5 Sport without the towing package. It looks like the sport has the heavy duty cooling and alternator but was curious if the factory towing package also included a different axle ratio? If not I assume the XT5 Sport would have the same 3500lb tow rating but not clear on this. Did review a similar thread on this but did not see the axle ratio mentioned.

Thanks!

Thanks UC! Do you know what specifically in the smart towing package makes such a difference? Aside from the hitch guidance, 7 pin wiring harness, I noticed my sport model is equipped with the heavy duty cooling, 170 amp alternator, and obviously the 3.6 engine.
