2018-2019 Luxury or Platinum?

Hi,

I've been browsing around the low mileage 2018-2019 esclade.
So far, I've seen many Luxury trim with 25K-45K mile range. The prices are in mid $50s to $60s.
Understood that use car sales has been crazy high so the price might be higher than normal?
Now I'm sort of debating between two cars, one with Luxury with high 20Ks mile and the other one with Platinum with high 30Ks mile. They are both 2018.
Between Luxury and Platinum, not many big differences but those who have compared two trims before, would you mind sharing why you chose the one you purchased?
And if the price difference between two cars mentioned is $4K, is it worth getting Platinum though you get higher miles?
The major difference seems to be retractable step, massage chair and softer leather seat? Could be repair item for the step and massage seats, and maybe durability issue for softer leather seat? If not, like the idea of massage during long drive but not sure if massage feature really works on your back....

Any input appreciated!

Platinum is the only model with top shelf hand stitched aniline leather dashboard, center console and upper door panels. The microfiber headliner is also exclusive.

It’s an option package that matters during resale or trade in time demanding higher value due to its exclusivity of features. Expect buyers in a private party sale to pay premium for the massage seats and center console refrigerator when that time comes.

I’ve found that I tend to keep my vehicles longer when they have more features and options. Lastly, with GM launching its 3.0 turbo diesel in the Yukon & Escalade next year you’ve got real competition against platforms that offer 20-25mpg. Take the Platinum as a depreciation protection policy knowing a preowned buyer will gladly choose Platinum when typical depreciation opens the door to his budget.

I have a premium luxury esv, an in between model. It still has the adaptive cruise and retractable steps but wasn't as much money as the platinum. Happy I went with it. The nixer leather would've been good but all the features are awesome (2017 4wd w 39k miles, paid 46k for it in June).

I was debating the same thing for a year before I bought my 18’ ESV luxury. I went from a 12’ Yukon SLT trim so the luxury trim was a massive upgrade. Platinum trim seemed almost too nice as I preferred the mix of leather and leatherette on dash, door panels and seats for a more worry free scenario. Alcantara seat backs did not seem practical for me with my kids. I would have been getting on their ass if they got it dirty. All the other platinum features seem great but it depends what vehicle you are transitioning from IMO. I went from 5.3 V-8, no sun roof, no navigation, 20 inch wheels so luxury fit what I was looking for. IMO anything above a base trim is an excellent choice.

For me it was Platinum or bust, for the exclusive features mentioned above. After all its a Cadillac, it should be top shelf. Even the horn pad on the steering wheel is leather, unlike the hard plastic on the lesser Escalade trims. I would probably have gotten a Yukon Denali if I didn't find the Platinum that I have now.

Thank you guys. For those who have an adaptive cruise control, how is it? I have it on my GX460 and had it on MDX but did not like it as it was not smooth enough and GX460 does not stop automatically when the car in front stops.

I'm leaning toward Platinum now.... But $61K with 36K miles is quite high for me but considering it is $100K vehicle in 2018, it's a good deal?

Try to find something with an in-service date that is mid or late 2018. This way you have more warranty. If you can find an 18’ that has an in-service date closer to the end of 18’ on paper it is a three year old car since 21’s are out now, but actually it is only two years old (original in-service date). You’ll get a better deal on it on these.

I got our late '15 ESV Premium 18 mths ago with 54k on the clock. It also has the adaptive-cruise which is beautiful when on the Interstate; (never tried it in town with stoplights) set the cruise and fiddle with the distance control to the car in front for some distance comfortable to you; I've had the ESV cruising at 77 and it dropped to 45 without me touching to brake. (kinda freaky at first but its a really nice feature)

If I were you, I'd be checking out what differences there are btwn a loaded Premium and Platinum if your wallet is thick enough.

The kooky uptick in used car prices is going to do another loop when GM puts the 3.0L turbo diesel (600D) in the Escalade platform 2021 and potentially full blown electric like the new Hummer down the road.

There be an unusual choice to make in the preowned car market soon. .

Should I buy a first year diesel at a premium knowing it’ll have bugs to work out or ... hang out in a preowned fuelie for a year or two? Hmmm ... I’ll wait. Knowing I’ve got the Wonga for a NEW Escalade, should one just get by in a Luxury or Platinum edition since depreciation has taken $20-$30k off the original sticker?

I have a 2018 platinum Escalade fully loaded with all the bells and whistles Arctic blue interior and exterior primo condition 28,000 miles. It’s the best car I’ve ever ever owned but I’d like to trade it for a Corvette ZO6 if you know anybody that like to do that, let me know.

I went Platinum for massage seats. Rear camera mirror and rear camera squirt cleaner is also cool. I agree with earlier post-er that said it is a Cadillac and you are buying something loaded with cool stuff so go all in. In the wholesale world I know they like platinums whether it be Ford, GM, etc...

Those prices seem high. We just paid $48k CDN for a 2018 Platinum with 75K MILES (121k KMs). I have seen many for sale, sitting and i think economy is not great so buyers market.
