Hi,

I am looking at a 2016 XTS Platinum and wanted to ask the forum of any know issues with this year? Also does the CUE have support for Android Auto or Just Apple Car Play?

Thanks
Hunter

I have a 2013 platinum and I wouldn't have any other trim level when comparing the others. I get so many positive compliments of how nice the interior is and all of the gadgetry that it offers compared to other cars of this year. The 16 would even be nicer probably. Especially the CUE system would be much faster and updated then the first year they came out in 2013. Good luck with your search. I have the all-wheel drive with the 20 inch wheels.

There are not a lot of issues with the XTS MY's. Carcomplaints.com can give you a list per MY. When I searched it before buying, there were very few issues. One that was in CUE '13-'17 was a faulty screen, which for not much can be replaced through cuescreens.com. I don't use AA or CP, and can't comment on whether the '16 MY has them or not.
All trim levels are the same as to overall interior and exterior design/layout for the '13 to '17 MY's, but there are different combinations of colour such as two tone, and grille (different grille on the '17, not sure about the '16). The '18 and '19 MY's had an exterior front and rear design change, plus for the luxury trim you can eliminate the MRC shocks.
Where differences happen is in options per trim level, to name a few, wood colour/grain, ultraview sunroof, massaging seats, adaptive cruise control, HUD, leather dash, roof material. There are probably others as well. You can do an internet search to get a full list.
Then you have the VSport which has the turbo engine with more HP and Torque.
Best of Luck!

I have a 2016 luxury AWD with 90k+ miles. Got it in 2017 with 25k miles on it. Only non-warranty repair was some $200 evaporative component recently that set check engine light. Screen got a slight crack in 2019 or so and dealer replaced it, under warranty. There are alternatives (cuescreens.com) discussed on this site. I also had rear shocks replaced under warranty. Front brakes changed once, rears never yet. Battery died right before 4 years under warranty. I now change it every 3 years.

Car has been most reliable car I've ever owned after 7 years of ownership/8 year old car, although not my favorite due to poor visibility.

The one issue is that it now groans over an speed bumps and similar things like an old spring door. Dealer said it was NOT struts and to ignore. I would check carefully for suspension overall, and struts on the car (perhaps rear shocks too) are absurdly expensive at dealer ($1400 per wheel I was quoted), and Mavis tire (for example) wouldn't even offer to do them since they require proprietary (magnetic ride control) struts that are also difficult (pricey) to install in front, apparently. I may take the car to some other place that actually wants to diagnose and fix the bump-squeak.

Also, AWD might perhaps be more reliable since it has hydraulic power steering, not electric. I've read on this forum of people having trouble getting parts for FWD steering repairs.

Also be sure you like the visibility and headlights. I paid $28,000 for my car in 2017 and except for pothole damage once (new strut and tire) and tires, I have had just one paid repair for $200 (mentioned above), so it has been very economical and feels and looks like new except for that speed bump groan. But Cadillac dealers can be ridiculous for what is basically a Buick Lacrosse peer car in terms of build and tech. I'd love a Platinum once I checked that the 20" tires didn't both me. But if buying now, I'd probably get a 2019 Luxury AWD to avoid the MRC struts, even though I haven't yet had to pay to replace mine (rears were under warranty). (2018 and 19 don't have MRC on the luxury trim).

Be sure car was serviced, too, or take the risk but do it soon: coolant after 5 years and brake fluid every 3 years as per the manual. I've also done driveline fluids once too, trans at 45k since I got car used and transfer/diff (and trans again) at 90k.

Good luck.

I got a 2016 XTS Platinum a few months back. Cue supports wired Android Auto and Apple Car Play but you have to get Auto enabled at a dealer. I got mine done for $150. Some dealers will say they don't do it or will charge $300. Shop around and make sure who you're talking to doesn't sound like an idiot. It matters. I have 4 dealers within 20 miles of my house. They were either morons or they overcharged. Dealer 100 miles away ended up getting my money.

The only problem I've encountered thus far is a broken guide in the sunroof track. It's plastic. Sunroof cracks upwards and slides back just fine but it won't slide forward smoothly. I need to replace it but it appears to be labor intensive. There's an aluminum version on ebay. I'll check that out but I want to hit a junkyard first.

I added white led's to everything in the interior. The only potential side effects of that so far are that the hvac blower is never truly off (not sure if that's a feature or not) and the side mirrors don't tilt inwards when parked despite me having that setting enabled (not sure if that's related to led's or not but mine don't tilt inwards).

Forward collision braking can be a bit aggressive but I leave it on anyway. Outside of those things, the car has no issues.

LED's will work fine (I did the interior, and a ghost one in the door), but they have to be can-bus friendly to not cause issues. 6000k looks really nice and matches the the OEM LED's in the interior such as the overhead counsel.

I have a 2016 Platinum FWD that I absolutely love! It has been the best car that I have ever owned. Like everyone has said, there has been hardly any maintenance and the car still rides like a dream. I got it a couple years old with only 18k miles. I know have around 98k and I have still never changed brake pads! Every other Caddy I have had I had to change the pads every 20k or so. I luckily had purchased a warranty for this vehicle as it has replaced the CUE about 3 times (luckily again right before the warranty expired). And also right before the warranty expired, I got them to replace all the struts and the seat warmers so think I got my money's worth out of it!

I think you will really enjoy it! Good luck!
