The image quality is better and the full screen benefit is nice. Have the dealer replace the cameras and perform the software update and it will get better. Nighttime visibility is a HUGE improvement, I can tell you that!

I had the upgraded cameras installed, calibrated and the software update done and the night view has not improved at all although the day time isn't as washed out as it was it to isn't great. :(

I just picked up my repaired truck, so have not had a chance to look at it at night yet. But the daytime is SUBSTANTIALLY improved, much brighter and crisper. The side view is perhaps most noticeably improved, before, in my fairly dark garage during the day, I could just see that there were shapes and could not make out what those shapes were, now I can easily identify what's on the screen, both outlines and color. Will report on night time results once I've seen those and try to post pictures if I can figure out how to do that. Should add that I have the full screen software update.

Now have had a chance to test the new cameras and software update in two driveways in nighttime conditions. There is a HUGE improvement over the prior camera setup. The first photo below was taken in my father's driveway, which is pitch black. Can now make out the curbstones on the edge of the driveway, the bushes lining the driveway just above the curbstones, and other features, all very clearly. The second photo is in my driveway, which is close to pitch black, and I can now see trees, and other stuff as well. Prior to the upgrade, on my driveway, the screen was essentially a mid-gray color, with white pixellation sprinkled over it. Could see absolutely nothing other than the grey and the white pixellation. I can now see things. Of course the picture is not as vivid as it is in the daylight, but neither are the photos taken with my Canon 5D Mark III camera and an f1.2 lens, and that camera setup is a low light wizard. So, bottom line, I think Cadillac has in fact accomplished what it sought to do with this upgrade, the system is now very useable in extremely dark conditions and is bright and vivid during the daylight. Sorry, I do not have "before" photos, which is why I have tried to describe here in words the "before" and "after."

Also saw the bill for the upgrade and it's not cheap. Parts in excess of $800 and about $500 of labor.

There clearly is little difference. Did your dealer tell you he changed the cameras as well as updating the software? I ask because the difference was so huge in my before and after, and so little in yours, that I wonder if your dealer just updated the software and did not change the hardware.

I have a Platinum. The Platinum cameras do not need to be replaced. With that said the dealer was not aware of that at the time and actually replaced them with identical cameras and did the software update. Nighttime vision is no better and now the full screen is stretched. Day vision is good.
