2015 Escalade transmission

My 2015 Escalade had a thud sound coming from underneath when I accelerated. They tried to reprogram the issue but did not fix. Now I am getting an ENTIRELY new transmission put in my SUV that has 3200 miles. Please be aware that GM knows about this "issue". They will be replacing with an updated transmission to fix the problem. Several reports in the Dallas area but mine is the first in Houston. beware

Good heads up, sorry for your issue, hope they get it fixed and back to you in a timely manner.
Did you have this issue from the beginning or did it just start at around 3,000 miles? I have 1,300 miles and wondering if I might soon experience this.

Roger that. Thanks for the heads up!

What dealer btw?

Started around 2500 miles. Became more and more noticeable as the weeks went on. You will feel and hear it. At first you think something is loose in the back...a toy, groceries, your kids cup banging around as you took off. But you will soon realize it's coming from underneath and it's now most of the time.

Is yours a 4wd or 2wd?

perhaps this is one of the reasons GM did away with the longer warranty
I doubt it will lower the value of the car much after fixed but it is lowered in value with the bad transmission it currently has. See my thread for videos showing where this sound comes from, the loose drivetrain shaft. So ordering a new transmission will replace all the parts in case it ends up being more than just the wrong size driveshaft.

sorry to hear about your problem, i wonder how widespread this problem actually is.. considering this is a cadillac forum, and owners are normally very vocal....

but mine is 2wd as well.. and i know for sure, i will not be keeping the car past its powertrain warranty.. heck, maybe i'll sell it at 47 months...

knocking on wood, but mine is still brand new, but i'm actually loving it so far.
I'd bet money ours is also doing this. (3800 miles) Took ours in today for a few other things and this. I described it to the service advisor as a rear end "backlash" ours makes a loud powerful bang when you let off the gas. Much more common while going downhill.
Us earlier adopters of the 2015 Escalade with the six speed transmission don't have this problem of a clunk. Our early Escalades with no 4G internet and the plain black Onstar antennas don't have a problem with them breaking from water damage also. Glad I wasn't to worried about those new features and got mine back in June.

Not trying to rub it in, just making observation.
Only a few that didn't pass inspection QC have these problems. The good thing about the Cadillac Escalade luxury, premium and platinum, mechanically they are created equally.
I contacted my local dealer only to be told they haven't heard anything from GM in regards to replacing the transmission to get rid of this dreaded clunk on acceleration. I am hoping that some forum members that get their transmission replaced can post their repair orders, so we can print them out and send them to our local dealers in order to get the same repair. This clunk is my biggest complaint with this car.

No matter the brand of car...i hate that when the dealer says "we haven't heard anything from corporate" on some issue that ALL of us on a forum have heard about AND some of us of have had our dealers fix the issue by replacing parts authorized by CORPORATE! :mad2:
This sounds like another potential recall. What do you you guys think?
If it was dangerous to drive, it would be recalled but at this point it just causes an annoying and embarrassing noise. I am sure lots of people think this is normal or don't notice so a recall would just look bad and scare a bunch of people. It probably should be recalled though for people like GM4 life whose dealer says they are clueless about his noise
Entire transmission was replaced! Total time in shop =2 weeks 4 days. I do not wish this on anyone. Good luck!
Just so everyone knows....EVERY 8-speed made from 10/6/2014 through 2/2015 has the excessive clutch pack clearance issue. GM purged all of the transmissions in 2/2015. If your truck is built 3/2015 onwards, you have an all-newly designed clutch pack with tighter tolerances and zero noise.

Everyone that complains will get a transmission. Complain harder and you'll get a new truck.

I don't think it applies to ALL. It is probably only those with these problems?
