I’ve got a ‘15 CTS 3.6L AWD with 80k miles. I’ve noticed it’s started a growling sound from the rear end. Been told the rear end needs replaced. Any other opinions??

I can't offer you an opinion insofar as your problem. However, if you still have any powertrain warranty on your vehicle, which is normally 72 months from the "in service" date, any rear end repairs should be covered by this warranty as you have not yet exceeded 100k miles..

They’re saying it is the rear differential. There is a recall on them but mine isn’t listed as one recalled.
