I have a 2014 XTS & lost a key fob. Is it possible to buy a used one and program it yourself per the instructions in the Manuel?

Should I just go to a dealer & purchase one?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I lost mine last week. I went to the dealer to get a new one and have it programed. It wasn't cheap.

ebay could be a source, but be careful and know the model number you need

Buy a new fob at a GM online parts supplier like gmpartsdirect.com and pay what your dealer pays, then either program it yourself or take it in. You'll be money ahead. eBay fobs are hit or miss. I bought a few and only half had full functionality, so I switched over to buying OEM new stock online.

I have a question. Every car I have purchased came with two keys. when I got my XTS I got two fobs. Didn't everyone?? If not you got shafted by the dealer. I would never buy a car with only one "key".

Of course my 2013 came with two. I didn't want to take the chance of one day misplacing or losing the second too.

Good point. Over the last year or so a lot of posters seem to have gotten only one. Just saying.....
