This has been on going for a year or so. Cadillac replaced the battery and alternator a couple of months ago after it freaked out on me a couple times. The dashboard will blink, the running boards may go out and back in, AC will go to 74 degrees, the clock will change time etc. Took it to dealer last week when it did it again and they checked everything out but could find nothing wrong.

This morning it did it and the engine actually shut off and back on while I was driving. Did that twice.

I would replace both Negative and positive cables. That's a common issue with these and I have replaced both of mine. I thought it was the battery and alternator also but ended up being the positive cable that time.

Called Cadillac and they said I may have got a bad Alternator and they were going to change it out.

Should I go with the OEM battery cables or are there better aftermarket? I'm not as concerned about the cost as I am getting stranded somewhere.

Do OEM that way all the connection are in the right place.

I changed the end on my because Cadillac didn't change anything and it going to happen again. If you look at my post had the same problem and you can see what I did. haven't had a problem since.

I have a hard time believing it’s an alternator problem.

I have an appointment with Cadillac to take it in Monday to change out the +/- battery cables. Hopefully that solves it. Had a hard time finding the OEM parts because of the strike.

I'm also changing out the driver & back drivers side door seals. Been driving around with what sounds like a window 1'' down since I bought it.

Didn't make it to Monday. Just died on me and I had to wiggle the battery wires to get it to fire back up. At Caddy now for the weekend.

At least it sounds like you are on the right repair track if wiggling the battery cables brought it back to life.

Got the ESV back with the new Battery Cables and so far so good.
