Bought my 2013 XTS 18 months ago new from a local Cadillac dealer. I've had problems with the transmission slamming into gear when accelerating quickly onto busy roads. My dealer made adjustments about six months ago and all was acceptable, not fine just acceptable. Now the problem is much worse. Still slamming into gear but now, downshifting randomly at highway speeds. Returned the XTS to the service department today to find the car needs a transmission. $60,000, 18 months later and now I have to accept a rebuilt jacked up transmission.
What would you do?
Oh yes, I need a rental now as we are leaving in the AM to see my grandson 700 miles away in Camp Lejeune. The dealer cannot find a GM car for rent so I found a Chrysler. Seems Cadillac will not pay for anything but a GM car. The Chrysler is on me according to the dealer. I think I bought into the wrong brand.
One last, I bought my wife a SRX at the time of the XTS purchase (from the above dealer) bringing my total tab to over $110,000. I think I bought into the wrong brand.

SRX is leased (1000 miles per month). The Chrysler rental is 46.00 per day for 5 days with unlimited miles. Not a great deal of money but it just burns me to have to pay.

Leased? That's not what you wrote.

Remaining $50,000 on a prepaid lease with 12,000 miles a year? You have other reasons to be angry.

Since you bought it I would demand a new transmission not rebuilt or used. If it was leased i would say don't sweat it and let them do what ever cause your not going to keep it. Always remember first year models always has gremlins.

My 2013 XTS slams very hard during upshifts too. Dealer said it is normal. Guess I know what is coming in my future.

I cant believe your dealer doesn't have another GM car for a loner! Seems that the service agreement is pretty clear...

I have always be able to get a loaner from my dealership. I don't understand unless you meant he doesn't have a caddy loaner, but you said there isn't a GM loaner wow.

Your transmission is trashed and your authorized Cadillac dealer can't find you any type of GM car anywhere so you have to pay for a Chrysler out of your pocket? Something sounds mighty strange with that story.

Just to clarify: Did your dealer offer you a "Non-GM" loaner or nothing at all? Our local dealer uses "Autorent", which really sucks the big one...they only offer old dilapidated cars. Last time, they stuck me with a 2009 Nissan Rouge that had all sorts of problems at 70+ miles. When I returned the problematic rental, I was then accused of messing up the alignment and bringing it back with less gas...SURE. (that argument didn't last long at all, lol)

My dealer attempted to get me a GM vehicle rental. No GM vehicle was available so the rental is on me according to the dealer. Keep you posted. My biggest concern is my CarFax.

Wow, thanks...what a ride you've had. Hope everything works out for ya!

I guess my dealership is going about this ALL WRONG as I've never received a GM loaner let alone a Cadillac loaner:/

My dealer always gives me a Caddy. Most times its a SRX needing gas, but it is a Caddy. Once they gave me a plain-Jane XTS. The only time ma car has been to the dealer is for service/recall and once for the Sun Roof that wouldn't close properly.

My dealer just called. They have a Cadillac loaner ready today. Now will they reimburse the $274.00 I paid for the Chrysler rental? let you know

Wow that's crappy service, my dealer just gave me a 2015 ATS for a loaner with no hassle. Which I'm surprised at the performance of this little turbo 4, and disappointed at the room inside. They keep a small fleet on hand for customer loaners. All dealers are not created equal, nor are their pockets equally as deep....

Not to argue with you BlueAngel#07 but our local dealer has VERY deep pockets and has been buying out all the "little" NON-GM dealers in the area. They have much more greed than anything else...it's a shame because the repairs they do are great plus they have a very friendly staff. Having said that, I do know where you are coming from. (if it were a mom and pop dealer, I would completely but unhappily accept a cheap loaner from them)

My dealer did provide a loaner yesterday (2015 SRX). Now to get reimbursed for the 5 day rental. I'll give Cadillac a call early next week. Let you know....saga continues.
