Since GM updates maps and software every so often, I wanted to see if anyone knows if any of these numbers are old and need updating. And how would I go about updating. I bought this super-clean 2013 XTS a couple weeks ago with less than 88000 miles on it. I know the maps may be out-of-date, but for the most part, as long as I stick with roads older than 2013, I am OK. In terms of maps update, GM says all their updates are for the VIN, I'm not sure if that's true (an easy way for them to make $100+ per car).

I think it does go by the VIN, but either way, you'd still have to pay for it.
