There are videos on YouTube showing how to replace the cabin filter. It's fairly easy.

The 2018 XTS that I bought a month ago had some smoke smell that I wanted to get rid of, so my first step was to try this chlorine treatment. It helped, but left a noticeable chlorine smell afterwards. I left the treatment in the car for the full 24 hours, so if your problem is not severe, you might leave it in for less time. The chlorine smell is going away, and it isn't objectionable any more. I think the main thing that helped was just a thorough cleaning of the interior. Try that first before the chlorine treatment. The last thing I did was to change the cabin filter for good measure. Now, I think the interior smell is quite good overall.

Good idea to replace the cabin filter if you just purchased the XTS. The 2013 XTS does have one and if you go to www.fram.com and provide XTS specifics you will get the instructions and also a video. There is also lengthy discussion on the forum on replacing the filter. All years are essentially the same procedure. It requires some dexterity and usually the 1st time its a bit of a challenge. Its a bit more difficult if you have the CD radio. It can get in the way but you don't disconnect it - just pull it out and let it hang while you replace the filter. HOWEVER - this will not help much to reduce cigarette smell. The smell is in the fabrics and you need to use either an Odor Bomb or take it to a good car wash and have them detail the interior. I have used the Adams Odor Bomb with good results. You can get it on Amazon for $21. Adams Odor Bomb. I replace mine regularly and more often than owners manual states. Sometimes critters can get in there and leave debris and make a nest using insulation material from the car. I have seen it first hand although it was with a CTS but the installation is very similar and the location is the same - behind the glove box.

Most of the CD player install steps apply to the cabin air filter replacement.
It's a pretty easy job.

You can also take the car to a detailer and have them run their ionizer in the car.

Hope you are satisfied with it. (It worked wonders for a used car I bought that had been owned by a smoker. My wife refused to sit in it, even after I'd tried several cleaners and shampooing the carpets.)

For anyone unfamiliar with them, Griot's Garage has some unique and awesome car care products. I've purchased many of them over the years and when my wife asks what I want for Christmas or a birthday, I hand her a catalog with circled items. I used to live near their flagship store in Tacoma, and visited often.

The only Griot's products that didn't work for me were their polishes and cleaners (they make a fortune selling them.) The salesman would see my shiny car and when they asked me what I used to get the look, I'd say Zaino and they'd nod knowingly. It was obvious they had heard that before. But for microfiber towels, detailing and cleaning tools, including buffers, you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

You can get the CD player using the accessories section on the Owners Center. Ordering info is: RPO - WCN LPO, CD Optical Drive. Dealer can order as well. Cost about $250 installed.

I got mine (new in box) on Ebay and DIY'd it.
There's not much difference in the Cabin Air Filter and CD Installation instructions.
Just a few different steps, none off it particularly difficult.
