Will a 5 button fob with remote start work on a car that had a 4 button fob ? I have to get a new fob and would like to get the 5 button with remote start and see if the remote start feature will work. I have been able to get the car to remote start with the 4 button fob by pushing the lock and or unlock buttons, but it won't work consistently. The capability is there. Does anyone know if the other features will work with a 5 button even if the remote start doesn't?

Hello! I did this a couple years ago on my 2013 ATS Base. I read that all ATS's had the remote start module built in so I bought a pair of keys that had the remote start button, took them to my closest GM dealer (a chevy dealer) and they flashed the keys to my vehicle and the remote start worked. I think they charged me $100 in labor to do it, which is fine. I now have factory installed remote start for about $150 total if I recall.

It didn't work right away though, the batteries on the new remotes were dead.
