So my CTS Couple 3.6L has been doing a weird thing where it will drop really low when idling sometimes. It was getting more frequent and then the other day it threw a code and went into limp mode. Ran the code and it was a 0191 code and the description was fuel rail pressure sensor code.

I searched for info on where this was located and how hard it was to replace and did not turn up anything specific to my CTS coupe. So I ordered one via Amazon (OEM part) as no one local had it. Arrived in 2 days.

So lets do this...

Remove the strut crossbar, 4 bolts and makes it much easier to get tot things.

Remove the oil filler cap and pop the big black cover off the engine.

now you will be looking at the upper intake manifold. I partially removed it. Take intake boot off the front, unplug a few hoses and electrical plugs. I left a few things on the left side hooked up and just moved it to the side and help it up with a bungee cord. Note there are the 5 big long bolts and then there are two little 12mm ones at the very back. Then the whole thing just lifts up.

Stuff paper towels in the intake ports ASAP. BEFORE crap falls down in there.

The pressure sensor is at the very rear of the motor on the fuel rail.

BTW the intake gasket is a really nice part that seemed very reusable. Zero issues with mine. Did not replace / came apart easily.

Cut the ziptie and remove the safety part that will allow you to depress the plug holder and remove the plug.

then remove the sensor with a 24mm box end.

replace with new one.

BTW I was concerned that there would be crazy high pressure at the sensor. I did not experience this at all. In fact not a drop dripped out. BUT I would be careful, not sure this was typical.

Then basically do everything in reverse order and you are done. Actual work took about an hour and was relatively easy. some things are a little tight to get to but it is a simple job you can do yourself if you are inclined and have the tools.

Car runs perfect now. Idles perfect, no error code.

Lets go drift some corners you sexy beast you.

Guys my coupe did the same thing two days ago. I truly appreciate this battlac. Mine is the radiant silver color and I have the same year as y’all too. I don’t see the coupes around often, but when I do I always smile. Wish Cadillac would’ve brought the CTS coupe back in the 3rd generation models but I’m still grateful they made a coupe in the first place

When I had this it was a bad fuel injector. Replaced the sensor with no improvement. Sent out the injectors to have them cleaned and tested. 1 was bad, the other 5 got cleaned and were like new.
