I bought my 2012 CTS-4 Premium in July 2015 with 33k miles. It now has about 115k miles. I've never had to replace the brake pads or rotors. It's not likely the brakes were done at or before the 33k mile mark before I owned the car. Even if they were, that's 82k on the current pads / rotors; or 115k miles if these are the original pads / rotors. Does it seem unusual do get this many miles out of a set a pads / rotors? It does to me. I live about an hour northwest of Atlanta and cummuted for about 3 years with the car but have since retired. I've just recently started to get a little shimmy when applying the brakes on highway driving so I'm thinking it may be about time to replace the brakes. I really want to get the exact pads / rotors that came with the car since they lasted so long. Can someone provide part numbers for these and where the best place is to buy them? I have the JE5 brakes per the Service Parts Identification sticker (attached).

Have you looked at the pads and rotors? Yes, that is a long time, I would definitely change them both…are you doing it your self, and have you done brakes in the past??
you may want to check your control arm bushings, by using a pry bar on them to see if they are worn out as well…I’ve done my brakes last year with Brembo pads and rotors from……newparts.com
(mine is RWD)

Your check with pry bar was good, revealed a torn bushing. I always say these checks are not 100% in that sometimes you cant see the tears, could be on the other side of the bushing where it is hidden. Driving feel, sounds, and mileage in general are reasonable indicators as well.

To the @RayBones01 at 115K miles you're surely due for suspension work. My upper control arms were clunking at 105K miles, and the shocks were blown. I wouldn't expect much difference from your 115K mile car, although AWD is different from RWD. But not different in that AWD suspension doesn't wear.

I'm astonished you got 115K miles from a set of small JE5 brakes, you must live in the flatlands and take it easy on the brakes. You can look up the part numbers on one of the GM online dealers like GMPartsDirect or others. Make sure you don't get parts for the larger J55 "heavy duty" brakes. They're a great upgrade if you need them, as I do. But clearly you don't.

Get the caliper pins, boots, and compatible grease (not black moly high-temp brake grease) like sil-glyde to keep your floating calipers clamping force even on both sides of the rotors. At 115K miles you'll need these. Brakes aren't something you need to buy OEM, although quality still matters. RockAuto has quality rotors and pads, as do other places. OEM brake pads are shockingly expensive, but if you liked them and they lasted that long might be worth it.
