Hey guys was trying to find out more info on what happens when you engage sport mode? I already understand that when it's engaged it adjust the firmness of the shift and points I understand the the driver has the option to manually shift gears but I wanted to see does it do anything besides adjusting shifting? From my experience in other GM models sport mode made a world of difference so any would be very useful thx

From the '14 Owner's Manual (I would assume the '11 is the same or very close):

Move the shift lever to the left
from D (Drive) to
M(Manual Mode).

If you do not move the shift lever
forward or rearward, the vehicle
will be in Sport Mode. When you
are in Sport Mode the vehicle
will still shift automatically. The
transmission may remain in a
gear longer than it would in the
normal driving mode based on
braking, throttle input, and
vehicle lateral acceleration.
SPORT MODE ON will be
displayed in the DIC. See Ride
Control System Messages on
page 5-37. The word “sport” will
display below the odometer. The
gear position will also be
indicated in the tachometer.

Within Sport Mode there is a
further performance feature
called Performance Mode Lift
Foot (PMLF) Mode. The feature
is activated automatically when
sports oriented driving is
detected, based on cornering
and on/off throttle application.
PMLF allows the transmission to
hold the current gear instead of
upshifting when the throttle is
lifted.

I've tried sport mode occasionally, and really can't tell the difference. The manual mode as been helpful during winter storms while descending a steep hill.

You have to drive pretty aggressively to notice the difference in sport mode - like rally driving. I don't that you could determine much just driving on the street.

When selected does anything within the suspension or chassis Change or stiffen? I would like to find some aftermarket suspension mods for my SRX but if sport mode would be affected by the change I'll leave it stock to prevent any problems with the car

Only the 'Performance' and 'Premium' trims have sport (active) suspension, and then only the AWD versions. FWD and all base and Luxury trims have standard suspension. (This is for the '14 and '15 model years - not sure about earlier versions but I doubt it would be different.)
