Has anyone taken their 2011 SRX in for the seat belt recall? If so, please explain what the dealer added to correct this. The gal at our dealership told me they had to remove the front seats but that is all she could tell me. I would like to find out firsthand the exact parts changed.

GM is recalling certain model year 2011 Cadillac SRX, Chevy Equinox,GMC Terrain. The driver and/or front passenger safety belt buckle anchor may fracture and seperate near the seat attachment in a vehicle crash.

The safety belt system may not restrain the occupants(s) as designed and could increase the risk of injury.

Have an '11, but haven't received a notice. In reading the campaign ID in the PP, I'm going to contact my dealer about this anyway. That is potentially a bad situation, wouldn't you agree?

I got the recall notice in the mail and also received a voice message from the dealership. I've called a couple of times to get an appointment for the repair and was told they were "booked". I guess I will just "drop in" and wait. I don't need anything else done.

I found a better description of the recall's procedure: http://wot.motortrend.com/recall-ro...n-recalled-for-belts-10036.html#ixzz1F8fk4zb2

If this article is accurate, the recall proceeds as follows: The Problem: GM discovered a seatbelt defect on certain 2011 Cadillac SRX, Chevy Equinox, and GMC Terrain SUVs that could cause the seatbelt buckle to fracture in the event of an accident. If the buckle fractures during an accident, it won’t restrain the occupants as designed and could result in serious injury. The defect involves a tab designed to prevent the buckle from rotating, but which may instead actually break the buckle. Only the front seatbelt buckles are affected.

The Fix: Owner notification letters will be sent out on January 18, 2011, and ask owners of affected vehicles to bring it to a dealership. The dealers will then identify which seat(s) needs to be worked on and remove it (them). After removing the seat, the dealer will remove the seatbelt buckle and pound the anti-rotation tab into the slot it was originally cut from.
