I'm thinking about buying one of these for the wife. We went to the dealership and test drove it. Fully loaded with all the bells and whistles in comes out at $23,900. Not very fast but great mpg and great handling. I like the styling too. What do we think of it?

Yeah, I like it. The old one looked like a wad of gum.

Hyundai is doing really good these years, the only thing that I can say is about the price of 2011 model, which is considerably higher than 2010 model, the design is totally different, however the price is as well. I can remember a hynday dealer in our valley was selling brand new 2010 Sonata for 14999$ during sale event, and it was not the base model even! However the new gen is more beautiful than previous gen.

I thought it was ugly in photos but after seeing one in person, I thought it was nice. Looks like a Volkswagen CC but for a much lower price. I also appreciate that Hyundai actually REDUCED the weight from the previous generation. Thats a trend I'd like to see more of.

They designed it with the 4cyl in mind. It won't be able to house a V6 but the turbo 4 should be nice...

I like it! My wife got a 2010 Santa Fe SE (FWD, 3.5L V6 276hp) a few weeks ago and likes it a lot. I saw the Sonata at the dealership then and really liked the styling - it even makes the Genesis look a little plain and dated.

Don't forget to have the wife try the Limited version, I hear the suspension tuning is different than the SE.

I like the way the new Sonata looks - and I agree that the turbo 4 will have adequate power. They're selling fast down here in South Florida. I see a LOT of these on the road. The last time I saw a new model sell so quickly around here was with the Chrysler 300...

I'm starting to see a lot of them floating around. They're certainly the sharpest looking car in their segment, and with Hyundai's 10/100 warranty, you can't go wrong, especially if it's fully loaded at $23,000. My only gripe is the lack of V-6, but that up and coming turbo I-4 should fill the void quite nicely.

Salesman said that the Sonata is costing them Genesis sales. Said that a lot people that come to buy a Genesis end up with a Sonata even though it is a lesser car. Looking at both cars side by side, I really thought the Sonata looked better than the Genesis.

I'm not surprised - The Sonata in Limited trim will have most of the toys of the Genesis for less money, and gets considerably better gas mileage too.

It's sad to see, but what's the point of the higher HP engines in the Genesis if the cops are pulling people over all day long for "aggressive driving" and going 10mph over the speed limit, sometimes even less? That's where the cops are going, given the pressure on them to write tickets for the revenue.
