ignition will not turn on, battery in fob is good, car battery is good, big mistake, two year old was playing in car, could he have pushed a button that would have disabled the starting circuit?

No. The steering wheel isn't jammed is it? Try turning the wheel to work the key.

automatic? Manual? If auto.....jiggle shifter to make sure it is fully in Park? could he have pulled on some wires under the dash?
