A recall due to a non safety related concern is extremely unlikely. If GM was going to deal with this, it would be classified as a TSB (technical service bulletin).

I too have this problem on a 2010 SRX with rain/water coming in under the glove box. (We usually keep our SRX in the garage but have been having renovations to our home and it has been outside for the last couple of rain showers and is really leaking in quite badly). This seems to be a known issue and I was wondering if there is standard resolution.
Thanks

Also just wanted to highlight a true story. We went to the dealer today to see if we could arrange a service appointment for this and there were 3 other cadillac owners in there all at the same time with water coming in under the glove box... I have also heard that this can become a safety issue due to the water interfering with the on-board electrics. So I hope that there is a standard resolution.

Located in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and export vehicles located only in Europe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dealers are to refer to the General Motors Service Policies and Procedures Manual, Section 6.1.2 - Regional Product Field Actions, for guidelines on handling vehicles that are not involved in this customer satisfaction program but may be displaying the same condition.

THIS PROGRAM IS IN EFFECT UNTIL JANUARY 31, 2017.

ConditionCertain 2010-2012 model year Cadillac SRX vehicles equipped with a sunroof (RPO C3U) may have a condition in which the vehicle’s sunroof drain hose material may shrink due to changing environmental conditions. If hose shrinkage occurs, it may result in the drain hoses detaching from the dash or sunroof module which would allow sunroof drain water to leak into the vehicle interior. Water leaked into the vehicle interior may damage interior components, including wiring, electronic modules, the sound deadener and carpet.

CorrectionDealers are to replace the front sunroof drain hoses.

For vehicles out of warranty but within the guideline period, would GM also cover the cost to fix carpets and/or any electronic damages due to this problem?

Thank you for the good information.

Texas is missing from the list. I know at least 5 different SRX vehicles with similar issues in Texas including the 2010 I had before.
Oklahoma isn't on the list either. It happens here too!

I don't know what's in Section 6.1.2, but it sounds like they've left room for negotiation...

I'm just thinking out loud here. This program campaign is good until January 2017. Most 2010-2012 vehicles will be out of bumper to bumper coverage at that point. Would it not be cheaper for GM in the long run to authorize replacement of all the vehicles instead of waiting for them to leak? Ah, but here is the catch: if the roof leaks after the warranty is over, GM appears to not be willing to fix the carpets, electronics, or anything else that gets damaged, but only just to replace the drains. So, my theory is that GM wants the leak to occur after the bumper to bumper warranty is over so they can recoup their cost by charging for new carpet and electronics and the dealer makes good money from the labor to replace all that is not covered by this campaign. That's my conspiracy theory anyway. I'll be interested to hear the next story about getting this fixed under the campaign for a vehicle out of warranty to see if it really covers all collateral damage or just the drains themselves.

Hello all,

I definitely understand how this situation could feel disheartening. In addition, the safety and satisfaction of our customers is our utmost concern. Feel free to send us a PM if you would like us to look further into this, or document the matter at the very least. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Kind Regards,

This is one of the problems I have not experienced with my 2010. It's probably because I rarely, if ever, use the sun roof. I wonder if I can get the hoses replaced BEFORE I have this issue leak in and ruin something?

I believe some people on this forum had the issue without using the sunroof. There is still water drained by these hoses no matter what. I will print this and show to my dealership at my next maintenance and see what they say. Thanks by the way for sharing this doc with people here.

I will do the same and report back here. Oil change and two recalls sometime in Feb.

This SUCKS, I have a 2005 and it just started doing this, seems to me that this a common problem with every year, not just the '10-'12... So now what are the guys with the older models suppose to do, get hit over the head with a crazy labor bill if we take it into the dealer!!!
