Just replaced passenger side Headlight unit last week now driverside unit is gone. When is GM going to have a recall on this. They know about the problem but they do not fix it.
From what I can tell they are replacing the headlights with the same flawed ones. Until they have the headlight assemblies themselves fixed, what good is a recall? I too have had both of mine replaced under warranty. I am wondering how long they will last before the same problem occurs.

Since when are manufacturers required to RECALL cars when their light bulbs burn out?? Why is it so surprising that light bulbs don't last forever, and that when one side burns out, the identical bulb on the other side lasts about just as long? If bulbs are designed to last forever, then there would be no provisions for replacing them. Your expectations are unrealistic.

Hi Robert J,

We understand how frustrating this would be, and appreciate your feedback. I would be happy to document this for you, and if something changes in the future, you will be notified. Thanks!

We were away for nearly a month and our car was parked outside at the airport all that time instead of in our garage. We had considerable hard rain while we were away and sure enough there was moisture inside the lens of the passenger side headlight and neither the high nor low beam worked.
I took it to our dealer and was told this was not a common occurrence on the SRX. They would order me a new one but it would cost me several million dollars (almost kidding) which I told them GM should cover knowing full well from this forum that this is QUITE common.
I was told to expect a call the next day to arrange an appointment to replace it.
Guess what. Apparently they are NOT readily available as they have not called back and it's been nearly a week. Guess what else. Since the car has been living in its nice, dry garage the high and low beams "suddenly" started working again last night.
There is still condensation in the unit so I fully expect them to fail again soon.

Ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhh.................

I will be curious to know what you end up paying for this "repair" since you are out of warranty. Would you be willing to share that info?

Since the headlight assembly is now working and we never heard from the dealership that the new one had come in we never went back.

Tried something that suddenly came into my feeble head. Tried to slip a piece of paper between the headlight assemblies and the edge of the hood where the two meet.

Guess what?

No way can I force that piece of paper between them. No wonder the constant pressure and road bumping has caused these headlight assemblies to separate just enough to allow moisture in.

We had bought our 2010 SRX Luxury model in April of 2014. After joining this forum and finding out about problems with these cars, I had a talk with the service manager at our dealership.(stayed calm, cool, and collective about it) This was after our 60 day warranty expired. We had problems with the right headlight and the nav/radio unit. The warranty we bought would not cover the headlight, and could not "duplicate" the nav-radio problems we were having (of course) so they turned that down also. I let the service manager know that I was aware of these problems, and it was not right that I should have to pay around $2500 to have them repaired. He said "Sounds like you have been doing some research". I said, "Yes I have".

He got back to me in about a week and told me that he spoke with GM and offered to replace both the nav/radio unit and the headlight assembly for a cost to us of $300. I thanked him very much for his help and had it done. No problems since. (

I too have had both headlight assemblies replaced due to the moisture/condensation problem. The problem is that they replaced them with the exact same FLAWED assemblies. That means that a few years from the replacement I'm most likely going to see that same problem happen again. Hopefully I'll be out of this SRX before that happens.

My dealer quoted me around $1200 for 2 new lights installed, and they would pay for half since the vehicle was purchased from them. Found the lights new for around $300 online....but have not bought them, as this vehicle will soon be traded...no more Cadillacs until they get the quality back up to par.
