Hey everyone,
I did my first oil change on my 2010 CTS Wagon 3.0 last night. The bottom engine shroud I expected to see covering the oil pan was not there. I assume it was removed and not re-installed during a previous old change. Is the cover for the wagon the same as the coupe/sedan or do I need a wagon-specific cover? Does this cover really make a difference in noise? Is it worth replacing?

My mechanic said it's just there for better aerodynamics, so I don't think it matters much.

I agree with Dave. If there is no additional noise involved, then I wouldn't waste my time. It is also just another thing to remove and replace when changing your oil.

I thought I read somewhere that the cover was required to keep proper airflow through the engine compartment. I could be wrong though

That can be an important wrinkle in this dialogue
