Finished up the install of a new amp and 12" JL sub, and have a strange issue...with volume off or stereo completely off, the subs are humming. The humming goes away as soon as any door is opened, and comes back as soon as it is closed. The sub sounds fine under all circumstances.

I tapped the Bose sub wires under the center console, and have them running directly to the speaker level inputs on the amp. Power is straight off the battery, ground is to the floor under the 2nd row driver side seat (where the amp is mounted), remote is from a harness under the driver side dash.

I bet ypur power and ground sources are the problem. I would take a look at your grounding first off. You may need a relay to kill the ground when turned off so nothing can backfeed. I would check a generic search for speaker hum with system off maybe something will pop up.

I understand this thread is OLD. However, the issue was new to me. I added a 2k watt amp for 2 15" subs with a LOC tapped into the wires under the cupholder using the lighter for power and ground. I thought all was perfect until I closed the doors. The feedback low frequency HUM was extreme! After 3 hours of re routing cables, changing grounds, rewiring speaker inputs for the LOC etc...

I turned off the ANC and the hum was gone...It was feedback from the noise limiting / adjusting microphones in the headliner. I have since read that some folks have cut wiring to the mic's. I just disabled the feature through the headunit and it worked for me...Hope this helps someone save time.

I will add a seperate thread for the install. I'm very happy to have been able to hide everything.

*****Update - Spoke too soon. Sounded great, no issues for a couple key cycles and then ... the system reset. The Active Noise Cancellation system is now fully active again.**** I'm looking up alternative options to cutting each individual microphone in the headliner. I will follow up with results when this is fixed. Sorry, couldn't figure out where to edit my previous post.
