I have less than 50,000 miles on my 2009 CTS. Now the check engine light is on (P0008/P0017) that indicates it is the Timing Chains. This is a very expensive repair.

I've seen that bulletin 10287 was issued for 2009 CTS but I never received one. I've also seen that the warranty has been extended on the 2009 CTS for the timing chain.

But when I spoke to the service manager at my dealership she said that my VIN was not included. I'm unable to find out WHY my car is not included.

My problem is than I have less than 50,000 miles on my car. It is way too soon to have this kind of problem. Especially on a high-end luxury car.

Is there anyone that can help me escalate this issue with GM? Or how I should go about it?

Thanks,
Trish

These engines are sensitive to low oil levels. How often did you check your oil between changes? So yes the timing chain could be damaged even with low miles.

Have you topped the oil off and reset the engine light to see if it comes back yet?
