About to jump the gun on this car but wondering if other than the timing chains I am going to have any significant issues with it at a rate that surpasses those from other vehicles.

Anyone own one that can let me know their experience?

some of that video will not apply to the 2nd Gen CTS'...we use an oil filter cartridge and GM does not make a UPF filter for our cars...just the regular PF filter cartridge...as to drilling out the PCV valve, I believe that issue was already addressed in the newer 3.6 engines so I wouldn't do that...using a proper Dexos 1 full synthetic oil (at different times, GM has spec'd a full synthetic, synthetic blend and back to full synthetic oil for our cars)...

follow the owner's manual (I like to follow the severe schedule) and keep up with maintenance as well as read others experiences here on this Forum and you should have better enjoyment with your CTS...

right...2009 is a 2nd Gen CTS...some of what's in that video you linked does not apply to our cars (including the 2009 you are looking at)...nothing I added changes from what I wrote above...

good luck with your car

That car has 17" wheels and possibly the LY7 (not direct-injected LLT) engine. I would be concerned it may have the FE1 suspension as well, with skinny sway bars. If you care about handling at all, I would look into this a little more carefully. Have them send you a picture of the RPO codes so you can decipher this, it is under the spare tire cover in the trunk.

Despite the manual trans, this may be a fairly base-model car in the performance category.

The linked car is very sparse on optional equipment.
Keyed ignition, halogens, no heat/cooled seats, 17" wheels, manual tilt wheel, non Nav, no wood accents...
Very likely not the LLT.

Fast is a bit of a stretch, but a CTS (can) have enough power so you don't hate it. But you'll need the 3.6L DI, and at least FE2 suspension, which can be easily upgraded to FE3 with shocks, rear springs, and 19" wheels. Most of which is just routine maintenance anyway.
