I really want this 2008 XLR BLACK Certified -pristine condition.
3700 miles...not a ding or scratch on it. Looks like brand new.
They want $50568. with Cert. and $1000 less without the Certified.

Problem is, do you all think they are asking too much?
What would be a fair price?
I offered $47K cash and they refused.
I appreciate all your comments

YOU CAN GET A GOOD IDEA OF WHAT IT IS WORTH BY LOOKING UP OTHER XLRS ON AUTOTRADER. YOU DID NOT MENTION IF THIS IS A V, WHICH ADDS UP TO $10,000 TO THE PRICE. THIS IS VERY LOW MILEAGE, WHICH IS GOOD AND WILL KEEP THE PRICE HIGH. I DID NOT FIND ANY DEALER THAT WOULD BARGAIN ON ONE WHEN I BOUGHT MY 2007. THERE WERE ONLY 1542 BUILT IN 2008 FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD AND ONLY 473 WERE BLACK. BLACK WAS THE BEST SELLER EVERY YEAR. IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY, $3,000 MORE IS NOT MUCH MONEY AT $50,000. YOU NOW HAVE TO ADD TAX, LICENSE AND INSURANCE TO THIS PICTURE, PLUS ANY TOYS YOU BUY FOR YOUR BABY, SUCH AS CHROME WHEELS, WOOD KIT, EXHAUST SYSTEM, TRUNK LINER, MATS, WINDRESTRICTOR AND WINDOW TINTING. YOU CAN EAT UP A $10,000 BILL IN A HURRY.
NEXT GET THE LONGEST WARRANTY THAT IS AVAILABLE AND BARGAIN FOR THE BEST PRICE. IT COMES FROM THE FACTORY WITH 4 YEARS AND 50,000 MILES. GET AS MANY YEARS AND MILES PAST THIS POINT THAT YOU CAN GET. I AM WONDERING WHAT THEY ARE GIVING YOU FOR $1,000 WHICH IS LOW. YOU WANT A GMPP WARRANTY ONLY. SOME ARE OFFERING THERE PRIVATE WARRANTY, WHICH IS USELESS. WARRANTY IS A LONGER STORY THAN CAN BE DISCUSSED HERE.

Price around $50 K is fair. Since you said that the vehicle is in brand new condition and it ran 3700 miles, it is a fair option. The used vehicle with 15 K miles costs you $42 K. At the same time, you have to look for further equipments that has be added after purchasing. Even the warranty matters here.

For anyone wanting to verify a "good deal" on any year XLR, try this:

Check out Autorader.com and run a nation-wide listing of all XLRs in the year you want. (Use the ANY DISTANCE criterion). At the end of the listings you'll see the min/max/average price. '06s seem to be the most offered at the moment; probably because they've just fallen out of warranty --and that's enough to make any sane XLR owner nervous.

I know for many, price is huge factor when contemplating an XLR purchase, but be aware that these vehicles when needing service, require a dealer, (in most cases) are expensive to repair, and can sit in a shop for weeks (or months) while waiting for parts. So just because you find one for cheap, you may not be getting such a good deal after all.

The $50k list price on the afore-mentioned XLR is about average, and with such low milage, attractrive. A good rule of thumb for ANY Cadillac is a 50% price reduction of the MSRP at the four-year point. The XLR has held up better than any late model Cadillacs, but the flip side is the expense of owning one if it's got issues.

My Dad's looking for an XLR-V, he swears he can get a 25,000 - 35,000 mile car in the $45,000 range.

Your Dad would be right. There are 15 XLR-Vs (06-07) that fit his criteria on autotrader at the moment.

Make sure you look over them close, low miles or not, and do not get to jumpy to get one. I looked over a lot of beat ones before I found mine.
