Maybe I am not understanding this correctly, but wouldn't a battery disconnect clear this NOT READY condition up? (removing the battery cables and shorting them together)?

This action produces the "Not Ready" message as does resetting the trouble codes by other means. The monitors can only be reset by extended driving or executing the drive cycle.

I can drive my '06 V8 STS around the neighborhood for about 15 minutes and all monitors set except one. Most jurisdictions let you have one monitor not set and still pass you.
