I've found 2 STS's that I have a strong interest in. They are both Gray/Grey V8's - Finding them is somewhat hard to find like that and that combo

They are both the same color and from what I can tell, same or similar option packages.

Carfax shows one to be a 1 yr old "major" car rental return w/ 12k on it. Been on the market 10 weeks

The other appears to be an early lease return w/ 17k on it. Benn on the market 4 weeks.

Would anyone be hesitant to buy the STS from the one that used to be a Rent car in Atlanta?

I can get a better deal on that one.... And, if all remaining warranty is there, what would be the downside?

Thanks!

Knowing how I drive rental cars I would be hesitant to buy one. That being said, I would be the same way with a Lease, which I have never done before. I would only go with the rental one if the deal was significantly better.

I would go by appearance such as door dings, interior wear, etc. I've bought both off-lease and rental cars and frankly there may not be much difference. Rental companies do stick to maintenance schedules, while lease drivers may not. The one thing you do have to watch for is that rental companies are able to spec vehicles that have different combinations of options that are not normally merchandised to the public.

Never. Why do you think you can get a better deal on that one?
I suppose if plan on replacing the car prior to the warranty expiring, you would mitigate most of the risk. On the other hand, if you plan on keeping it for a while, you run the risk of additional repairs due to the acceleration of wear and tear.
There are too many good deals out there. Expand your search.

Get the build sheets and compare the installed features/options. A dealer can run the VIN or join this site and post the VIN's over on the CTS VIN Check Thread. The report also shows the maintenance history (but don't expect to see much!)

My wife's 2007 was a rental and has some deletions & suspension differences. It was a very good deal.
