Hey gang,

I recently picked up a 2008 Escalade ESV that has a few issues. When I install the battery most everything seems normal. I hear a few dings from inside, when I open the door the dome light comes on, etc. when I turn the key on the dash comes to life and appears normal then when I try to start the vehicle I hear a click from a relay in the fuse/relay box on the fender but nothing happens (doesn't crank over). Again all else seems normal when I do this (head lights turn off, radio shuts off etc) when I release the start the radio and lights come back on. I do have a few codes showing, P1682 and P0315. Also when I turn the ignition on I can hear the air pump come on and a fan or other motor up by the sun roof but I don't think the fuel pump runs. It's possible there are some damaged wires in the wiring harness but I haven't found any at this time. The fuses all look good and the electrical connections look clean. One other thing I noticed is the check engine light stays on after the key is turned off and removed.

Any thoughts on where I should start?

Occasionally the lights on the dash will flash on for a fraction of a second while the key is off and removed.

I would start by chasing the ground wire from the battery to the body and make sure all connections are clean. Then the starter is next, clean connections and insure it has proper ground. Fuse in the panel under the hood or inside the cabin, not sure they have a fuse but you are hearing the relay click under the hood. Swap it with another like relay and see what happens. Most no start issues are ground related or a failure of the component.

I got same problem on my 2008 Escalade i have to start jump every morning theirs something in my suv is on all day n night is draining my battery. What should i do...
