Looking for some help here, I have a 2007 Ext factory 22's and in need of shocks all the way around. I was looking for the answer to a few questions.

1. Are the fronts air shocks?
2. What aftermarket shocks have folks tried and how smooth was the ride?
3. Has anyone change them on their own and if so how hard was it?
4. Are you as pissed as me that I'm having to replace shocks at 55k? (first car or truck I have every had to change this soon.

The front shocks are NOT air shocks,,,the electrical connection on the top is to control the valves in the shocks in varying driving conditions. The front shocks are installed with the springs and a HEFTY spring compressor is required to change the shock...Even I would not do it...Eat the labor to have a dealer do the fronts....That way if they use an impact gun and ruin the new shock they are responsible and you did not risk your health and life. The rear shocks are air shocks and not only have an electrical connection for the same purposes as the front but also the air line hook up for the self leveling feature. Anybody with basic automotive experience can change the rear shocks. Always replace in pairs unless a new shock (or very limited mileage one) is damaged during install...which is easy to do in the front. Search the internet/Ebay/Craigs list for low mileage wrecks/shocks...always get both. I got mine from Nordstroms, expensive but 1/2 the price from any GM discount parts place. Supposedly Arnot's (?) working from memory offers non OEM replacements..Have not tried them. Needing all four at 55K seems unreasonable. What/who determined that all four were bad?

Thanks for the info I just order a set of oem replacements for the rear from Arnott. Still looking for a solution for the front. My rear shock got damaged when the truck was stolen. Not sure why the fronts have went out so soon.

I have a couple of used but good front shocks if you are interested. They are the orange 2007 shocks with about 35K on them. You would have to use your lower bushings and mounts.

how much waterking i may be interested.... i got new front shocks and im pretty sure the dude who sold them to me sold me some silverado shocks... i knew they wernt the orange ones and i could deal with the suspension error... long story short i was just tryin to save some cash and i put them on and it rides bulldog now and its ugly lol had them on for 2k miles hoping they would settle and they didnt lol anyways how much would u want for both front shocks?

I purchased a set of OEM orange front shocks a while back from G and R autoparts store on eBay $500.00 for the complete ready to install pair!...Saved about 1k for what the dealer wanted. The seller said they were never installed, they were brand new (maybe refurbished not sure) so I took it for what it was worth. Got them and they looked brand new. Had my dealer install them.

I know this is an old thread but my rears just went out or at least they finally showed signs of what I have suspected for over a year now. Arnott sells remans of the OE rears and they have a lifetime warranty. I am going to go this route as they are $399 a pair and there is a prepaid label to send my old units back and get a $50 core. Compared to the dealerships this is a great deal and my Esky is out of warranty so its this or get hammered at the dealer. I have a buddy that gets 30% off at the dealer and these are still hundreds less.

i got mine done at the dealer it was 800 for EACH Side in the front that was parts and labor oe shocks
