Well good I'm glad you scored an AC Delco part! I'm not sure why pressing on the gas pedal would have any benefit. My Escalade seemed to start after the temp gauge dropped to 176 degrees. That was like turning on a light switch. After it hit that temp it started right up. That only happened when we were towing a trailer. I never died as a solo rig. It's all totally frustrating though. Try replacing the broken valve and change the oil. Then see what kind of code it pulls if it doses it again.

A major vacuum leak to the manifold will cause the LS-based motors to run wonky. I replaced my oil pressure sender and mistakingly left the PCV un-done on the driver's side. It started up and then idled with a mind of its own. Then it hit me, "plug it back in!"

Problem solved.
