Ok guys/girls, here's the deal. Mechanic friend of mine acquired a 2007 Cts a few weeks back. A detail shop did a simple wash and vacuum inside of vehicle. After that, Caddy battery was dead after driving home. My friend charged battery, slow charge until up to 12.6 volts. He was having problems pulling out key without using the lever by switch. He replaced with a new battery, and all was well for a few days, then same thing, key couldn't be removed, fuel read empty, temp gauge didn't move off cold. He checked with Cadillac, who said to disconnect battery, touch cables together, then reconnect. He also did a bunch of push buttons on dash routines, which reset everything, then went right back to not working. He's getting a reset theft light on dash. Is their a simple procedure to reflash whatever happened? 2 dealers in the bay area, want $220.00 to $400.00 just to start. Personally I think theirs a body control module that went awry, but want to know if one of you with similar vehicle, has this problem.

all i did was replace the battery and alternator and it stopped my issue... for about 99.9% of the time (once in a year), though a recall was in talks for the ignition system, unfortunately for us , nothing was ever done about the recall in the end. i found key removal to be a pain in the butt ... roll the key with out starting, wait 15 minutes and try to remove it. that has worked for me. im in a 2007 CTS 3.6L

06 CTS Good battery, New Alternator, Same symptoms. BUT, I sparked a rttchet handle against the starter while replacing Catalytic converters might have had something to do with it. Tried disconnecting battery a couple days, touched them together etc. NO Change!
Tried the fuse removal to reset ECM/Anti-Theft, same symptoms no crank/no start/ no guages, BUT now the security light goes out AND now my scan tool has NO Communication when it DID at first so I can't even get those codes written down now AND can't try the turn the key on for ten minutes relearn either since the security light now shuts off. Gee, I really do think it might be the ECM, but why was my scantool reading codes before ?? Only after I pulled fuses to relearn as directed I get No Comm ??
I want to buy an Old Dodge and smile while this Heap is getting smashered at the scrapyard!! I truly HATE sidepost terminals, ..... Always Have !! But like my two BMW's I used to have, I got it for FREE so it is the Only Reason I even drive the Known Issue GM Turd !!
