Hello All,

I have a 2006 STS 1SE package which comes with the 2.73 gears. I had previously drove a 1SG package with the 3.42 (or 3.23?)

Regardless, the torque felt MUCH different. This is the thing I miss most about not getting the 1SG package. I'd like to swap the gears from a 1SG (I work at a high performance salvage yard,) and put them in my 1SE. We have a tech2 in our service shop as well.

Ive seen the thread titled "4T80E 3.11 to 3.71 swap." I doubt this has any relation to the newer trans' in the 2005+ STS, so I was wondering if anyone else had any information on this swap. I posted this in the STS thread, and no one had any info.

I'm assuming the 4T80E is the FWD transmission in the older north star? The new STS is RWD and has a separate differential not part of the transmission as it is in a FWD car.

I don't see why this would be any different than a gear ratio swap in any other vehicle? You'll probably have to recalibrate the speedo/odo but other than that it should just be a gear swap.
