Hi I'm new to the forum and am new to GM as well. Anyway I was wondering about my 2006 Cadillac STS I just purchased. It came with staggered 18" tires with 235/50/18 on front and 255/45/18 on 8" wheels. The dealership put 245/45/18 on all 4 but I switched rear to 275/45/18. Is this a rare option? I've seen on here people say their STS have staggered wheels but their 17". Those same people said wheels are 7.5 and 8.5 but my book says their 7.5" and 8". Also my Caddy is black on black and I want to go to black wheels with polished lip instead of chrome that it came with. But staggered black wheels that fit my car are hard to come by. I found 7.5,8,8.5,9.5 but only in same front and rear. I don't think the 275/45/18 would be a good idea on 7.5" rim or bigger than 8" rim up front. Thanks in advance guys. I love the site. Oh one more thing I went to a muffler delete with 4 1/4" tips that won't void my extended warranty 2yr 24,000 miles or my Engine For Life Warranty thru Dealership? Rest of exhaust is stock.

Re: Caddy STS

Its not impossible in fact quite the contrary Its fact. I'm not asking if its an option cuz I know it is I have it. I'm asking if its rare. It must be as you are unaware of it. But I assure you it is real. It states the staggered 18" tires sizes in my door sticker. And my manual states it is an option and when so equipped it states front wheels are 7.5" and rear wheels are 8" and wear tire sizes I quoted earlier for 17" anyway.

----------

[/COLOR]I would happily take a picture of factory tire size sticker in my door jamb. Also a picture of the page in my manual that shows this as an option and states tire and rim size. I would email to all those that are interested.

----------

It seems the tires are staggered not the rims as an option with 18" wheels. I reread my manual and it shows an option for 17"or 18" wheels. But states only 17" wheels get 7.5" in front and 8" in rear. I guess 18" get only 8" all around. Why give the 17" staggered wheels and not 18" when they wear same size front and rear but 18" instead of 17"? Sorry for mix up. My bad.

Usually people who post comments to a question are the ones that know a VERY good deal about these cars. Try to get on their good side so they may help you in the future.

Welcome to the forum though! Enjoy your STS.

You are right sorry and thanks.

1 Bad Cad sts you are of course correct. I didn't mean to ask a question then presume. to already know the answer. Cuz I donot. You are right as 18"rims are not staggered when picked as an option on STS but tires are. Then 17" get a 7.5 up front and 8" in rear. I don't know why but this is even though they are both staggered with same size tires. Thanks for your help, Anyway you can get 275/45/18 on what I believe to be a factory rim on rear. As far as my warranty amd muffler delete I will dig deeper. Thanks again.

Re: Caddy STS

Yes muffler delete and or modifications could void extended warranty and could also affect my Engine For Life. But I'll take my chances when extended warranty runs out. Thanks guys. I don't have to worry about dumb stuff like this with my 600+hp 71 Lincoln Mark III or my 550+hp 69 Ford Cobra Cllone. Oh well...

Re: Caddy STS

They cannot LEGALLY void a warranty for a muffler removal or swap. They have to prove that the failure was caused due to the aftermarket part. All of this is in the Act I posted for you to read.

Hell GM factory warranty and my aftermarket never had issues with my Volant Intake or Corsa Exhaust on my STS. A lot of that has to do with the dealership relationship. Mine knew my old Seville and Eldorado had a tune in it and only asked that I swap it back to stock before bringing it in and they would take care of me.

Re: Caddy STS

I read the info you posted for me thank you. I don't disagree with anything you said. What I should have said that the shop manager and warranty specialist told me that it would or could void my warranties .

Most of us with the OEM 18" wheels stick to the original staggered setup you see documented on the door frame sticker or opt for a non-staggered setup; either 235/50 or 255/45, in order to rotate tires regularly as recommended by GM and most tire manufacturers for maximum tire life. Opinions do vary.
