OK, can someone out there give me the straight scoop on which type of oil to use in the V6 vvt engine? I have a 2006 STS V6 and my oil cap has the Mobile 1 name on it. However, the owners manual says that the v6 uses regular 5-30w oil - not the synthetic Mobile 1 type. The dealer tells me if the oil cap says Mobile 1 then it came new the synthetic oil and I should keep using it.
Who is right - the dealer or the manual ?????:hmm:

Well the synthetic is going to give you longer time in between oil changes. I have also heard that once you use synthetic you can't use anything else. Don't hold me to it but I though I heard that before.

Its generally the other way around: After 100-150k with standard oil its not good to switch to synthetic, because of its tendency to leak.

HOWEVER, on a newer engine, it will prevent buildup of deposits and reduce wear on seals. And what Scott said about extended drain intervals is a nice bonus.
