looking for help on replacing trunk release switch 06 cadillac sts

I have new switch but cant see how it comes out , any help would be much appreciated.

Done an 08 but should be the same. Remove the black fiber cover on the inside of the trunk lid (push pins). The tag light fixtures do not need to be removed but AFTER the center switch is removed you can for cleaning. They have a notch that fits the sheetmetal to the outside and a spring clip to the middle of the car. Push on the side closer to the middle of the car from the inside of the trunk. But back to your question, the center switch has 4 spring clips on the long sides of the fixture - 2 on each long side. After unplugging the wires to the switch, push from the inside of the trunk. It is tight with the corrosion from 13 or 14 years but will just pop out to the outside. Hope this helps. Good Luck

The clips rusted off on mine and the switch fell out.

Mine rusted out also, I JB Welded that thing back in.

I have a bright shiny new one and I'm now waiting for the weather to moderate in the spring so I can install it.

My clips broke too so the whole works hung down, switch and plate lights. I used some double sided sticky foam, think really thin weather stripping. Worked just fine.
