I have a 2006 DTS with performance package and it has 235/55R18. But the correct size is supposed to be 245/50R18. Does it matter which size or will it screw up the computer

All else being equal, the 235x55 will give you a little smoother ride that the 245x50

General rule of thumb, tires should be no more than .25 inches larger or smaller in overall diameter than the OE size. Your tires are .7 inches larger. Your speedometer and odometer now read slightly slower/lower than actual speed/mileage. The faster you go, the larger the differential.

You can compare tire specs to the Nth degree in the listings in www.tirerack.com. Their technical papers also give deep insight into tires, wheels, swaps and pitfalls.
