Hi everyone so about 7 months ago my boyfriend bought a Cadillac CTS 2006 3.6 liter from a tow company. We drove the car around for 5 days with absolutely no problems it ran great. Then on the 6th day we were pulling out of our driveway to go to the store and the car windows locked up the a/c stopped working the theft system light was illuminated on the dash. My boyfriend tuned the key backwards to the off position and started the car again and everything worked fine again we pulled up to a friend's house a couple of blocks away put it in park and turned the car off but the key would not come out of the ignition. We headed home about 30 minutes later, pulled in the drive way shut it off and again key would not come out of the ignition. We went to start the car again and it did absolutely nothing. No crank no start.... Tried jumping it but still no crank no start. We tried every single thing that we have found on here on YouTube ect. From bypassing using the purple wire in fuse box to resetting the system by ..... I don't want to list them all but we have tried what seems like everything and our car has been sitting in the driveway for 7 months now with no crank no start.... Somebody please help

Im working my way thru this problem too. Tried everything Shalene has tried. Here is my take on it . There is a crap ton of sensors on these cars . Great when it works , pita when anyone of these dont. The ECM receives messages from the sensors ( sensors that can go bad) . Causing ECM to do its job properly and shut down systems. Or not , because the ECM is bad . We are used to troubleshooting individual parts i.e starter , fuel pump , etc. There is a LOT that can cause the same symptoms. Do I buy a new ECM on the chance its the problem , therby doubling the value of my used car ? Or try work arounds ? Im gonna try work arounds . There is a fix on here for getting the key out. I can wire in a push button start , protected by a relay. I can wire in a new fuel pump power on , with ignition ‘on’ .

Listen, from someone who's been there tried everything and lastly replace the ecm/ecu, you'll be glad if you replace it first trust me, don't waste time and money take it from someone who wasted time much money and time not including sleepless nights, headaches and not to mention the wifey biting my ears off!! Not worth it, just put everything that you've changed out back I'm talking about ecu, ecm, bcm, tcm, atdcm, ect.... not to mention any bypasses you've done wired push start buttons or whatever. If your clever enough,,,,!?! You'll listen and replace it trust me there's no other way around it if you need the phone number to the place I used let me know
