This will be the first time I change the Air Filter in my '06 CTS with the 3.6. Before this car, I had '93 DeVilles. Those cars had easy access to the Filter and every time I would change it, I would thoroughly clean the plastic housing it sat in. With the CTS, it seems like no piece of cake just to get the Filter out. But is there any concern about any dirt being disturbed and falling into the housing that can't be reasonably reached?

Thanks

Just take the housing out. Remove several bolts from the mounting tabs along the top of the box (IIRC 2 in front and 1 in back), disconnect the electrical connector at the MAF, loosen the hose clamp beside the MAF and pull the hose off, move the two hoses off the mounting tabs, and pull the whole box out. This way you can remove the filter and then vacuum the whole box out.

Edit: Be careful not to hit the MAF sensor with the vac, and as with all electrical connectors, apply dielectric grease to the terminals before you reconnect it.
