I have read a lot of the forum posts concerning heating on one side and cooling on the other (which is my issue) but i cant find anything on the heater control valve. Im not sure how they control water flow into the core on these vehicles but surely there is a valve somewhere. We live in Texas and wont need the heater for a while. I was just thinking it would be easier to manipulate the valve than bypass the core. thanks

which is the problem? - heating or cooling?

NOPE -
hot coolant constantly flows - unrestricted - through the heater core -

cabin temp is controlled through a combination
of driver side and passenger side MIX doors -
along with the outside - recirculate - air door -

was just thinking it would be easier to manipulate the valve than bypass the core. thanks

why not diagnose the real problem - and fix it?

check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes -
if you don't know how - go here and read the ENTIRE post -

if you have any codes - post them here -
ALONG WITH THEIR DEFINITIONS -

------------------------------

all the Climate control actuators are monitored by the computer -
if any actuator failed - a fault code will be set -

Hello Basscat,
thank you for your reply and the info.

which is the problem? - heating or cooling? cold on driver side with a/c on and hot on pass side with a/c on.

why not diagnose the real problem - and fix it? I had diagnostics run and the codes showed a bad actuator (i believe was the part description) and the mechanic said it would be the hardest to get to out of three and a costly job. If this car makes it through the summer it will probably be done.
Is the Heater Blend Door Actuator easy to access? and can it be manipulated? Thanks

Edited to add quote box

I had diagnostics run
run your own diagnostics -
it takes less than two minutes to run codes with the built-in scanner -
use the link from the other post to learn how -

the codes showed a bad actuator
(i believe was the part description)

there are three MIX DOOR ACTUATORS -
#1 = Driver Side Actuator -
#2 = Passenger Side Actuator -
#3 - Rear Seat Actuator -
along with a Recirculate Door Actuator -
and a MODE Door Actuator -

I assume you have a #2 and probably #3 actuator faults -

the mechanic said it would be the hardest to get to out
of three and a costly job.

the "mechanic" is an IDIOT -

the #2 actuator also controls the #3 rear seat temp -
it is actually the EASIEST to replace -
simply remove the glove box - it is right there -

the part you need is ACDelco 15-73428 - $56.82 - with free shipping -
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001S8G8Q8/?ie=UTF8&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER

there is a HowTo in the TechTips forum -
http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...lle-air-temperature-actuator-replacement.html

Plenty of How-to advice in the Tech Tips forum. What year Deville are you working on ?

Google "cadillac forums 2000 - 2005 deville hvac blend door actuator" or something close.
