Our cars do not have a PCV "rattle valve". They use a permanent, fixed orifice. No cleaning required.

Discussed in the Emissions section in the GM/Cadillac service manuals. It was a running change in about 2000.5 or so.

Your engine does not have a Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve.

In RockAuto for 2005 Deville PCV valve listings the Fram valve is incorrect and the AC Delco fixed orifice fitting can be used in a standard PCV dirty air line cam cover rubber grommet.

Our setup from the factory is non-removable. FWIW, all PCV valves are calibrated for the engine they go into. Airflow settings differ greatly depending on number of cylinders, engine size, fuel system type, idle speeds, idle air bleeds. PCV bleeds air at all times the engine is running, so the metered airflow amount through the PCV system is fairly constant - but highest at low load steady engine speeds = high intake manifold vacuum.

A PCV valve is designed to slam shut in the event of a backfire - possible flame travel into the engine interior. Not a worry in the Northstar due to piping length and intake manifold design.
