Have a weird problem with my CTS. The car will start... sometimes... I can tell if it's not going to start because when I turn the key to the on position only the 'BRAKE' and 'Theft' lights will light up. If I turn the key on and off a few times eventually the other lights will turn on, and I can start the car. Another issue is sometimes when the car starts, it will immediately shut off. I then just have to repeat the process I explained earlier until it stays on.

I actually think we just found the problem. We swapped out the HI-Beam relay with the Ignition 1 Relay and it seems to start every time now.

If you pull the Ignition 1 Relay and turn the key on, only the 'BRAKE' and 'Theft' lights are on, once we put the HI-Beam relay in, all of the lights came on.

If it stops working again I'll update this thread.

Sounds like the relay was the problem. If it persists you may want to look into how dirty the battery connections are/getting your battery tested. And if that all checks out good it could be the immobilizer.
