Noticed the issue recently when accelerating there is a wobble and it gets worse with speed. Not as bad when just coasting. It seems to come with some type of screech from the back left wheel. Some speeds it stops other it gets worse. thinking maybe bearing or broken linkage somewhere. Lifted my car from the rear end today and put it in drives with the front wheels blocked and only the back right wheel spun freely the back left the one making the noise and wobbling couldn’t even be spun only moved when I applied the breaks and it would make the noise. It’s been snowing lately and sometimes when I lose traction one tire will slip and traction control will come on and it makes a rumbling sound from the rear end not sure if it’s related or not but that’s everything I can think of. Any suggestions help.

Re: 2005 Cadillac CTS rear end issue

The wheel only moves when applying the brakes??? My first thought is that the brakes and/or wheel bearings are toast. Possibly also other stuff but I would start by checking these.

Yes correct when the rear end was lifted only the passenger side rear wheel spun freely, the drivers side rear wheel the one making the noise couldn’t be spun by hand even when lifted and when applying the gas only the passenger side rear wheel spun, only once I applied the breaks did the drivers side wheel start to move and make the whine sound.. I’ll will look into it further tommorrow just wanted some input. I’ll post and updated post tommorrow.

Agree with Ryan. I'd check for excess play in the wheel, so grab at 12 and 6 o'clock and grab at 9 and 3 o'clock, and wiggle back and forth and see if there is any play. If not, I'd check to see if the caliper was seized by pulling the wheel and/or rotor.
If there is play in the wheel when you wiggle it, the wheel bearing is probably shot.
