When I'm going at slow speeds(backing out of a parking spot) or stopped with the A/C running the engine feels like it's trying to stall, when this happens the fan speed briefly drops and all of the lights(and screens) flicker. There was a p0420 code, but it went away and hasn't come back.

Any ideas what's causing this? I've heard it could be the idle air control valve.

I don't know if this is related but while driving yesterday the TC and ABS lights came on and then went back off a few mins later twice, then later on while I was going 60 on the freeway the engine light started flashing for about 10 secs(it also did this twice).

You’re having a misfire. A misfire that isn’t large enough to throw a check engine light though.

You’ll need to find a place that can do live monitoring of the cylinders. (I have yet to find one at the parts stores where they offer free checks, so don’t bother.) The user has to go to the menu where it’ll display all 6 cylinders with a counter next to it. The cylinder(s) that is having the misfire will start to count up. Then just replace that coil pack.

I'll do that, thanks.

Also, I plugged a scan tool in earlier and it shows these codes: C0121 C0040 C0281 C0586 P0420.

All of them are history(I assume that's because the service lights came on but then went off later) except for the last one, it says confirmed but the CEL isn't on.

been a while ... So not knowing the history of yoru car the list below are potential issues. Previous poster is right you have some type of latent misfires. I suggest for good measure do a tune up, oil, air filter and plugs. This will help remove tune up related issues from the diagnostic process.

- bad coil packs, need to identify bad units and replace.
- Bad injectors had this happen some time ago, I replaced all injectors and the engine began running smooth as new
- poor compression, this goes back to potential valve issues relating to timing chain issues. you will need to do a compression check to verify this.

I know coil packs for cylinders 5 and 6 are accessible without removing the upper intake. As for coil packs 3 and, one of them is I just forgot which one and I know longer have the car. But coils 1 and 2 require the removal of the upper intake.

Since coil pack 6 is accessible without the upper intake removal. Just purchase a new one and install it.
