I've searched these forums for days and not so much as a match has shown up for my situation. I have an 03 also without navigation or the cd changer, I want to install an mp3 player but the guys at the dealership swear it cannot be done. Isn't there a wire that plugs into the head unit where the changer wire should go? And if so where can I get one? Thank you in advance

Wait, you said you DIDN't have navigation, right? If you don't, and you want to simply replace the CD changer with your iPod, I reccomend the iPod2Car, or the AUX2Car, if you don't have an iPod or want to use different devices. It does replace the CD changer, so you lose the use of the changer. But no cutting, splicing, soldering etc... just plug and play.

Here's a ebay link.

Ben, that won't work in his car, the CD changer is controlled on the car data line (Nav unit) not E+D line as in non Nav cars. Also I notice mentioned it will work in Eldorado but not the newer Selville/Deville, that must be a mistake as the E+D data line is the same in these cars.
Anyhow, he already has the AUX input, no need to lose the CD changer and add some aftermarket thing (that by the way kind of works, I have seen complains) when is not needed.

Will that ipod2car work if you have navigation? I'm getting a denso navi this week and the cdplayer will no longer be able to use, plus I have no problem with just using cd player in the navi, and yes I will have the rca inputs in the back, but I would rather save those for something else

what part of:

is not clear. How you want me to explain it better?
Click on the link I posted earlier ... is easy just click!

Try these guys: http://pac-audio.com/

I found them from another link in this section of the forums, but I used the device in my 98 Deville, it works 99% flawlessly. Occasionally though when I turn the car on it does not unpause the ipod. So I have to cycle though sources once or twice, sometimes 3 times and it'll play again.

The support says my head unit in the Deville is too 'dumb' and only can send Skip / Back commands to the ipod, but somehow when I turn off the car it does pause.

Overall I am very happy though, much rather have the ipod with more music vs the old 12 disc changer in the trunk (that was broken anyway)

One more thing, I have learned I need to unplug the ipod if I am not going to start the car for 5 days. I went on vacation and left the ipod plugged in and came home to a dead battery. When the car is off there is still power to the ipod.

GUYS!!! STOP here!

This is about a NAV unit, NOT a regular unit!
The nav units does not use the same CD changer, the CD changer for the NAV units uses the car DATA LINE not the special E&D line for any other '96+ car. Let's put it this way, one is RS232 and the other is USB, now you understand me?
You will have to ask the aftermarket manufacturer if it works both ways (doubtable).
And by the way the issue with the skip/back is technical support crap, why is it that with the OEM CD changer is not "dumb"?

CRAP. I read the OP's post, about having NO nav, but missed the NO CD Changer. Damn it.

I did not understand the comment from tech support. but I didn't feel like arguing via email. It works most of the time so it wasn't worth it.

You already have auxiliary input in your car, just not wired.

Follow my posts in this link, it tells you exactly what you need to do.

I have a 2003 STS and I'm still looking for a good iPod solution. My car does not have Nav. It has the Bose system with console CD-Changer. I tried to iPod2Car device without success. I tried another auxiliary audio input device, and that didn't work either.

N*, I clicked on your link, and your very well written instructions seem to be for the Nav unit and not the non-Nav like the OP was asking about, and for which I'm looking for a solution. Am I reading it wrong?
