Hey guys,

On my 2003, I was making a steep left turn while applying my brakes when I hear a 'BONG' and look down at my dash to see my ABS and TC lights on. 'SERVICE STABILITY SYS' also pointed at me and laughed.

The code is ABS C1223 - LR wheel speed sensor reads 0

I've poked through the forum and saw others with a code that set an OPEN or a SHORT circuit, but this to me is saying the sensor is connected and not sending data.

The problem is intermittent...and having no ABS is turning out to be a bad thing...any recommendations on things to check? All else fails i'll replace the wheel bearing...

Clear the code and the messages will go away.

Wait to see if the code sets again before you throw any parts at the problem.

I have cleared the code and it will return provided the vehicle is in motion. It will also set ABS C1227 which is LR wheel speed sensor variation excessive.

The code clearly seems to be coming back. Is there anything special I need to know about replacing the wheel bearing? Is it remove/replace? Or do I need to pack any grease, replace any seals etc.
