I have just returned to my 2002 Cadillac Eldorado ESC and I am having problems. When I have the ignition off and try to hook up the battery. The engine will try to start. It's something to do with the wiring. Any in in put on fixing this issue.

Maybe the ignition switch is stuck in the start position.

P.S.
I edited your title to make it a bit more descriptive.

Disconnect the small wire going to the starter solenoid. It's tight, but you can get it from the edge of the intake on the r/h side. If it still tries to crank, the solenoid contacts are welded closed - replace it.

I notice the lose connection on the switch. I had a play in it by a 1/8 inch around the switch. I was told told to examine the switch. I did not think of a $50 part would cause this. I will check this out and let you know if it was this issue of Ignition Lock Cylinder (26033388) or something else.

Maybe the ignition switch is stuck in the start position.

In the part number #62 the switch wsw & wswa

your saying the switch is not in the lock position

In the orginal owener, they replace ignition switch

misaligned the alignment in the part number #62 switch.

After Checking into the Engine I found the Starter was bad causing the engine to start when I hooked up power to the battery and the ignitions switch was off the engine would try to start. I replace the starter and it solved the problem.

Sounds like the starter solenoid contact plate had welded itself to the + (hot) contact buttons (Terminals 30, 50, and C) or the return spring failed. Not terribly uncommon, especially a while back in time.

The red starter cable from the battery/fuse box is hot at all times.

??? "Returen" ???
