Hi;

I have a 2002 deville with the base sound system, and I really dont like the sound of it. If I buy a used Deville Bose system, and replace only the stereo, will my sound be noticeably better since I will still be using the original speakers?

Will the Bose stereo plug right into the harness of my base stereo? Will I have to add any wires or harnesses?

What would I need to completely install the bose system? Is everything Plug and Play or would I have to run harnesses that aren't in my base Deville?

Is it possible to find a donar deville and swap just the radio, amp in trunk, and speakers?

Any advise from someone who has done this would be appreciated.

BOSE and Base are way, way, way different. You would have to replace every single component in the audio system (with the exception of the CD changer). I am talking etire harness, speakers, AMP, HU. Is basically cheaper to just buy a car with BOSE.
I've done it in my car (slightly different system but same concept) - see here. Most (if not all) reputable audio shops and dealer will tell you is impossible.

It can be done but like said above you have to rewire the whole cars radio system. Your better off going aftermarket and it will be a less of a pain with the Bose amps . Aftermarket you will only need a five channel amp

I put a new Pioneer H/U in my 2003 Base DeVille. That improved the sound a good bit, plus gave me things like USB and SD card readers right on the front panel, as well as Bluetooth for phone.

The biggest audio deficiency at that point was a lack of bass. So I added a 12" woofer and amp into the trunk. I have not yet upgraded the stock speakers, but I am pretty darn happy with the current setup.

Hope this helps, Dave F. in Rhode Island
