Hey Guys,
Sorry if something similar has been discussed, I checked around a bit, but I am not quite sure I checked in all the right places. Anyway I have a 2001 Eldorado ESC with 67k miles on it, and I tend to have fun with the car. The thing that worries me though is that when I mash down on the gas, at the shift points I hear a loud, almost belt screeching sound. Is this a common occurrence? What is the fix?

Thanks,
Davis

It very well could be the engine accessory belt slipping as the engine rapidly decelerates from high RPM during upshifts. I assume with such low mileage the belt and tentioner are original, might want to inspect them first.

If he's doing a WOT from stop, even in an ESC, the screech at shift just might be a chirp from worn tires................1-2 shift.

Otherwise, yes - alternator/accessory belt/pulley chirp due to tensioner or idler; water pump belt/tensioner chirp. Diagnose and fix either one of those yesterday !!
