2000 sts overheating

The car overheats and coolant leaks out of the reserve tank. Ideas?

maybe not enough coolant going thru the system, maybe head gasket problems check to see if there is any coolant in the oil and it could be that the thermostat is bad

check to see if there is any mayo like substance on the oil lid, does the heater blow warm in the car
